Kate Skelly, the principal consultant of True North 90, has over 20 years experience working with software companies in business and corporate development capacities. Kate has worked with companies ranging from early stage to mature, from fast growing to a restart, from well-known to barely heard of. Kate’s direct, pragmatic approach combined with her integrity and professionalism helped these companies build and execute a successful partner strategy.
Prior to starting True North 90, Kate was VP of Business and Corporate Development at Brainshark, a cloud-based presentation platform, with the goal of increasing revenue through strategic partnerships as well as evaluating potential acquisitions. During her tenure, Kate signed and managed partnerships with EMC, Microsoft, Eloqua, Box, Blackboard, Verizon, Thomson Reuters and Salesforce. Before Brainshark, Kate was VP of Corporate Development at The FeedRoom, an online video platform, where she focused on acquisitions and partnerships. Here, she was involved in several partnerships, as well as the purchase of ClearStory Systems, and ultimately the sale of The FeedRoom to KIT Digital.
Prior to The FeedRoom, Kate was Director of Corporate Development at Open Text, a content management software company, where she worked on the acquisitions of Hummingbird, Momentum Systems and Artesia. Kate started her software career at Centra Software, a live eLearning and collaboration software platform, where she recruited and managed strategic partners including Cisco, Siebel, Peoplesoft, Documentum and Deloitte. Before joining the software industry, Kate was a software investment banker at Alex Brown. Kate earned her BA from Williams College and her MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Kate lives in Concord MA with her husband, two daughters and her dog. In her free time, Kate enjoys running, biking, skiing and snowshoeing.
